After a relationship breakup, everything in the world can seem bleak and depressing. The most significant thing to keep in mind is that this is a normal reaction. Whenever we lose something that’s important to us, we shouldn’t be surprised if we go through the grieving process. A relationship breakup is no exception.

When a relationship ends, you have a loss. The intimacy you shared with this person is now gone, and it may seem like you’ll never have that with someone else. Breaking up can feel like the worst thing you ever gone through.  Although it may be hard to imagine when you’re in the middle of the breakup but sometimes reconciliation is possible. Denial is the first stage of grief.  Then, pain and perhaps guilt takeover once the initial shock starts to lessen. Anger is the next phase, followed by.

Depression and loneliness are likely when it becomes clear that the relationship really is going to end.

At this stage, healing can start. Then comes the hard part of working through it and getting past it.

The concluding stage of grief is acceptance.

Try to put your relationship breakup into perspective with other important things that have happened and will happen in your life, and remember that you’ll eventually get to the acceptance stage and be wiser for it.
